Job Description

Overall Purpose Statement:

To provide physical care, practical support, companionship, household help, and emotional support to clients in accordance with legislation, best practices and all Muzaana Care Services policies and procedures.
Providing personal care at a high standard while undertaking training and development occasionally to maintain an excellent quality service.
This level of support aims to enable clients to remain at home with as much independence as possible and to support the clients in achieving a good quality of life and improving their life outcomes.
Carers must carry out the tasks in a professional, discreet, caring manner whilst respecting the client’s dignity, privacy, property and confidentiality.
You will be expected to provide care services for clients with a wide range of illnesses and disabilities unsupervised and at a high standard.

Primary Domestic and Personal Care Duties:

To ensure that the duties defined by management are delivered as detailed in the care plan. This may include:
Assisting with Personal Care, including skin care, bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting (including managing bladder & bowels and incontinence), dressing/undressing, and hair care.
Enabling mobility and transferring, including Moving and handling transfers, pushing a wheelchair, using hoists, checking specialist equipment e.g. wheelchair seat cushion, and driving the client’s vehicle, as directed.
Assist the client in fulfilling activities of daily living, e.g. working, leisure, and education.
Assist with medications as prescribed by the medical team.
Dietetics, including assistance with preparing, serving and storing foods.
Day-to-day household tasks e.g. changing beds, laundry, ironing, dusting, vacuuming and shopping.
To undertake health care tasks under the direction of a health care professional.
To assist clients with feeding.
Ensure Service User rights are protected.
Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of Care implementation and delivery.
Implement action to meet and maintain Care standards.
Encourage a model of self-care and Service User rehabilitation.

Treat patients with empathy and respect and professionally conduct oneself.

Full Personal Care Duties

§  Perform technical care  – Urinary catheter and stoma care, changing urine/stoma bags, monitoring output and reporting concerns to management.
§  Monitoring client’s baseline observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood sugar. Thereafter, reporting and recording findings to management.
§  Obtain samples e.g. Urine/stool.
§  Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding/monitoring.

Complex Care Duties

§  Caring for terminally ill clients.
§  Caring for clients with profound dementia.
§  Caring for clients who suffer from periods of frustration, irritation, anxiety and agitation.
§  Caring for clients who suffer from memory loss.
§  Providing pressure area care for immobile clients.
§  Providing post-operative care following major surgery.

Working Relationships:

§  Work in cooperation with members of multi-disciplinary health teams to maximise opportunities for Service User Therapeutic Care.
§  Develop effective working relationships with the other employees within Muzaana Care Services Ltd.
§  Support an open, positive, inclusive working culture to establish effective employer-employee relationships.
§  Minimise legal by reporting developments, significant incidents or noticeable changes in health, behaviour, or circumstances of clients to management.
§  Negotiate downtime with clients to ensure that these are agreed and mutually suitable whilst monitoring working hours, which should not exceed an average of 10 hours in 24 hours.
§  Attend and participate in staff meetings when required.
§  Always maintain confidentiality and report any breaches of confidentiality to management.

Paperwork :
·       Reporting and recording as per company procedure.
·       Record relevant activities in Care Plans while ensuring all client paperwork meets requirements.
·       Evaluate standards of Care competence.
·       Ensure all client sheets and timesheets are returned to the relevant management by the required date and time.
·       To follow all holiday and sickness procedures correctly.

Health and Safety :
§  Carry out duties in line with safe working practices ensuring adherence to health and safety standards and secure manual handling.
§  To use all equipment provided safely when providing care, e.g. hoists and other manual handing aids as dictated in the client’s risk assessment.
§  To use protective clothing and gloves
§  To attend training when needed.
§  Encourage health promotion within Care strategies.
§  Ensure all safeguarding principles and regulations are observed and adhered to.

Personal Development:
§  Commitment to identifying and fulfilling ongoing personal development within Active Assistance.
Encourage innovative methods for the delivery of Care.
Assist in developing the philosophy, goals, and objectives for the Care practice.
Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Promote a positive image for residency and employment within Muzaana Care Services Ltd.
Undertaking training and development from time to time to maintain a good quality standards and to meet CQC regulatory requirements.

Other Responsibilities:
§  Adhering to company policies and procedures at all times.
§  Maintain confidentiality of clients, colleagues and Muzaana Care Services at all times
§  Participate in developing Muzaana Care Services Ltd’s policies, agreed organisational goals, business, and quality objectives.
§  Be involved in the implementation and maintenance of Muzaana Care Services Ltd’s quality assurance.
§  Systematically and carefully solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise and have the ability to work independently without basic supervision.
§  Any other duties that are deemed reasonable that management may need.

Essential Skills
·       Proficient and precise written and verbal English skills.
·       Be able to use a computer and be able to navigate and use a care management system after initial training.
·       Good communication skills.

·       Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills.

·       The ability to work without supervision.
·       The confidence to liaise and work with other professionals and agencies e.g. doctors, district nurses and physiotherapist
·       The drive to promote and enable client’s independence.

Qualifications     
Essential
·       All Care Certificates Qualifications. – Muzaana Care Services can provide this qualification and must be successfully completed to ensure a continued job offer.
·       Eligibility to work in the UK.
·       Successful DBS and Reference Checks.
·       Two years’ experience in Care

      Desirable
·       NVQ level 4/5 in care (working towards or achieved).
·       Health and Safety Qualification.
·       Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
·       British Sign Language
·       Nursing Qualification
