Main Purpose of Job
To effectively deliver the main responsibilities within the Senior RSW role. Ensuring effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the children/young people, staff, service and company.
To be part of a team offering a comprehensive, high quality residential service to children and young people. The aim being to ensure the physical, social and emotional well-being of the children/young people are met and to assist in their positive holistic development and resilience
Main Duties
Supporting the Needs of Children and Young People
• To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
• To report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions.
• Effective personal practice and effective management of a team.
• Unconditionally support the positive holistic development of the children/young people within the home.

• To ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day to day practice.
• Ensure all staff practice is in line with best practice and the children and young people’s Care and Placement Plans.
• Continuously and unconditionally promote the structure, boundaries and routines within a safe and nurturing environment.
• Be responsibility for the effective and efficient running of shifts including the planning and appropriate activities.
• Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting oneself in a highly professional manner at all times
• As required work with young people on intervention strategies to promote pro-social behaviour.
• Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities including delivery of direct work.
Personal Development and Team Membership
• To work as part of a team and support less experienced staff in the work and operation of the home in conjunction with the organisation’s policies and procedures
• Represent the home at reviews and or meetings.
• Undertake relevant training programmes as required by governing regulation, guidance, and the Company.
• At all times promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practices.
• Oversee, supervise, appraise and develop the skills of staff in their working practice.
• Work in partnership and develop professional working relationships with colleagues, other agencies and professionals to meet the needs of young people and their families.
• Fulfil sleep-in duties in accordance with the agreed rota.
• To show a willingness to undertake appropriate training as part of overall professional development.
• To carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required including deputising in the absence of senior colleagues.
Regulatory and Administrative
• To carry out duties in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Ensure effective service delivery in line with the policies and procedures of the Home and the Company.
• To work in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations, other statutory guidance, and co- operate with any inspection process.
• Oversee, write and edit all reports when submitted for meetings and reviews.
• Work in line with young peoples’ care and placement plans.
• Monitor and maintain administrative requirements ensuring compliance with policy and regulation.
• Support and provide oversight in completion of reports for, statutory reviews and meetings concerning the young people where required.
• Take responsibility for having sound working knowledge of key policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Fire and Health and Safety Procedures at your place of work.
Other Requirements
• To provide out of hours support to the service.
• The post holder will be expected to continuously develop in their role. It is in the nature of the work of residential care that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances unpredictable and varied.
• The post holder may be reasonably expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time All staff are, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises that tasks which are not specifically covered in their job description must be undertaken but which will be within their level of responsibility.
• Additional duties will normally be to cover unforeseen circumstances or changes in work and will normally be compatible with the regular type of work.
