Job Description
We are looking for a committed and capable Emergency Care Assistant to join our emergency response team. As an Emergency Care Assistant, you will support paramedics and healthcare professionals in providing rapid and essential care during emergency situations. Your role will involve assisting with patient assessment, administering basic first aid, and ensuring the safe transport of patients to medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency calls, supporting paramedics in providing life-saving care.
- Assist with patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, and administering basic first aid where necessary.
- Prepare and maintain emergency equipment and ensure all supplies are in working order for immediate use.
- Help transport patients safely to and from the ambulance, providing reassurance and comfort during the journey.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical professionals, maintaining professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Document patient information and care provided accurately for record-keeping and handovers.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, policies, and guidelines to ensure the health and safety of patients and team members.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Emergency Care, Health and Social Care, or a similar qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in a care or emergency response role is preferred.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to stay calm in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
- Valid driving licence, with emergency driving certification preferred.
- Current DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Working Hours:
This role may require shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to provide round-the-clock emergency care.
