Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Autism Specialist and Disability Support Worker to provide dedicated care and assistance to individuals with autism and other disabilities. In this role, you will work closely with clients to promote independence, enhance life skills, and support social and emotional well-being. Your work will make a lasting impact on individuals’ lives, helping them to achieve their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer personalised support to individuals with autism and disabilities, focusing on their unique needs, preferences, and goals.
  • Develop and implement support plans that promote independence, life skills, and social engagement.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including communication, mobility, and self-care, in a respectful and empowering manner.
  • Foster positive relationships and a supportive environment that encourages self-confidence and personal growth.
  • Use specialised techniques to manage behaviours and enhance communication for individuals with autism.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, and other support professionals to provide holistic, consistent care.
  • Monitor progress and well-being, adjusting care plans as necessary and documenting observations.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of clients by following safeguarding policies and adhering to all care standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, Autism Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with autism or disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Knowledge of autism support techniques, behavioural management, and sensory strategies.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Working Hours:

This role may require flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the specific needs of clients.
