About Company
City of Chelmsford Mencap is a registered charity which was established in 1951. It provides lifelong learning, social opportunities and specialist support for people with a learning disability in mid-Essex. We currently support 350 people and are actively seeking to increase our reach.
City of Chelmsford Mencap provides a range of services to support people impacted by a learning disability, either directly or indirectly, to live their lives to the fullest:
· The Outreach Academy, a lifelong learning service helping people develop life, work and social skills. It delivers structured learning, with a broad curriculum including:
Cooking Functional skills
Creative and expressive arts Horticulture
Dance Independent living skills
Employability Music
Enterprise Yoga
· Social enterprises and community volunteering projects, promoting the talents of service users and their ability to make meaningful contributions to their local community.
· Working Out, a work placement initiative.
· An Advocacy and Community Support Service, helping service users maximise their independence and resilience.
CCM’s vision is for every person impacted by learning disability, directly or otherwise, to live life to the fullest without impediment, exclusion or disadvantage.
