My BSc (Hons) in Media and Society Studies has strengthened my understanding of how social structures, inequality, culture, and communication influence people’s experiences and behaviour. This has been directly relevant in care and support roles, where effective communication, awareness of social disadvantage, and sensitivity to diversity are essential. The degree developed my analytical thinking, reflective skills, and ability to understand how factors such as stigma, marginalisation, and access to services affect individuals and families. I apply this learning when supporting people in a person-centred way, adapting communication to individual needs, respecting cultural differences, and promoting inclusion, dignity, and informed choice.
